DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT

Following the discussion on the implementation of this framework at the kulliyyah level, it has been agreed that “Sejahtera Framework” will be integrated into the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Medical Programmes where feasible. Implementation of “Reflective Practice” has been proposed as one of the teaching-learning methods to be adopted for this purpose.

“Reflective Practice” is defined as a process whereby an individual thinks analytically about anything relating to their professional practice with the intention of gaining insight and using the lessons learned to maintain good practice or make improvements where possible (Academy of Medicine Royal College/COPMed).

Reflection empowers medical students and doctors in training to:

1.         Develop greater insight and self-awareness.

2.         Identify opportunities to help learning.

3.         Improve practice at individual and organizational levels.

OBJECTIVE

The objectives of the workshop include:

1.         To present an overview on “Reflective Practices in Medical Education”.

Cardiac arrest is a treatable medical event that requires immediate action to save a life. Cardiac arrest can strike indiscriminately and without warning, often leaving grieving family members and friends to question what could have been done differently.

When the heart stops, the brain will begin to die within 4 minutes. An ambulance takes 10-15 minutes to reach the victim. If CPR were instituted early, even before the arrival of the ambulance, it could make a difference to the victim’s survival. As cardiac (heart) arrest could occur at home, in the office, on the streets, bystanders able to perform CPR becomes valuable for the victim.

Institut Jantung Negara (IJN), being the premier cardiac hospital, have taken the first step of public responsibility by offering Basic Life Support (BLS) training. Basic Life Support (BLS) is the foundation for saving lives after cardiac arrest. It is designed for healthcare professionals as well as public to provide emergency care to patients in a wide variety of settings, and teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in pre-hospital and in-facility settings.

Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to the 1st OGSM Virtual Scientific Conference!

It is with a sense of pride and tremendous pleasure that the Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Malaysia (OGSM) invites you to interactively participate in the 1st OGSM Virtual Scientific Conference, which will be held over two days on the 5th & 6th of September 2020. We believe this is the 1st virtual conference being organised and held by a Malaysian medical society.

Ladies and gentlemen, the COVID-19 pandemic has effected all of us in one way or another. This pandemic is probably the most critical global health calamity of the century and arguably the greatest challenge that the humankind faced since the 2nd World War. At the point of writing, the COVID dashboard reads almost 10 million confirmed cases worldwide with almost 500,000 deceased, and it is still raging in the USA, Brazil, India and many other nations. While several nations like Malaysia that have done tremendously well in successfully controlling the pandemic and had started opening economic and social activities, a few are experiencing the start of a potential second wave, such is the unpredictability of this pandemic. An effective vaccine is potentially 12 months away, and the “new norm” will just have to continue as a way of life for now. It is with this in mind that the society has undertaken to organize this virtual conference with the befitting theme “Embrace the Change” as a reflection of life during a pandemic.

The scientific team led by Dr Muniswaran, has prepared an exciting and high impact scientific programme filled with up-to-date developments that caters for everyone and there will be a blend of world renowned international and Malaysian speakers to share their knowledge and experience in their field of expertise. The most advanced virtual conference platform available in Malaysia will be on show, to allow maximum participant’s interactivity during the live scientific programmes and not forgetting virtual treasure hunts with lots of prices to be won.

The Organizing Committee looks forward to meet all of you in the virtual world of the 1st OGSM Scientific Conference to truly “Embrace the Change”!

Thank you very much for your support and participation.

Organizer: INSTITUT JANTUNG NEGARA

Synopsis:

Synopsis:

MPCAM SCIENTIFIC MEETING ON CARDIOVASCULAR HEALTH AND 8TH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The Medical Practitioners Coalition Association of Malaysia (MPCAM) will be hosting its 8th Annual General Meeting soon on the 5th of September 2020.

This year for the first time we will be conducting our AGM & Scientific meeting via Zoom, to meet the expectations of our members to meet once a year and at the same time, to comply with the SOPs laid down by the Ministry of Health, in our fight against the spread of Covid-19.  This year our Scientfic Meeting will touch on the topic of cardiovascular health which is a 1-hour webinar session.

MPCAM is a non-government organization comprising of medical doctors from multiple backgrounds with mainly general practitioners. It started out as a Facebook closed group (Malaysian Primary Care Network) , better known as a Kopitiam, where doctors voice out their grievances with their solo practices, and soon became a voice fighting for the right of doctors.

In 2012, the founders decided that its time to formalise our efforts and registered the Association with the Registrar of Societies to give us more legal standing to attend meetingsand represent doctors.

Taking doctors out of their clinics have always been a challenging task, so we hope this year with the opportunity for doctors to attend the AGM from the comfort of their homes, we will have more doctors participating in our meeting. CPD points will be awarded for renewal of APC 2022.

We also hope more doctors will join MPCAM so that we will be able to stand up for you with a greater unified voice. For those who are already members, we hope you will take up positions in the committee and sub committees so that we can leverage on your time and ideas.

Hope all of you will log in for our Scientific Meeting and AGM 2020.

Inspired by Life,

Dr. Raj Kumar Maharajah
