The 8th National Foot and Ankle Trauma symposium is organized by the Orthopaedic Department of Hospital Queen Elizabeth in collaboration with Malaysian Orthopaedic Association (MOA) and Malaysian Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society (MOFAS)

That 48-year-old man presented with jaundice, passing tea color urine and pale stool for two months. The patient had itchiness of the skin for two weeks.

Recent ultrasound examination showed the case was having cholangiocarcinoma of the common bile duct. CT scan date was asked for.

The discussion will be doing on this case on:

  • Differential diagnoses of obstructive jaundice
  • Pathophysiology of each problem
  • Diagnostic investigations
  • Management options of palliative and radical surgeries

Cardiac arrest is a treatable medical event that requires immediate action to save a life. Cardiac arrest can strike indiscriminately and without warning, often leaving grieving family members and friends to question what could have been done differently. 

When the heart stops, the brain will begin to die within 4 minutes. An ambulance takes 10-15 minutes to reach the victim. If CPR were instituted early, even before the arrival of the ambulance, it could make a difference to the victim’s survival. As cardiac (heart) arrest could occur at home, in the office, on the streets, bystanders able to perform CPR becomes valuable for the victim.

Institut Jantung Negara (IJN), being the premier cardiac hospital, have taken the first step of public responsibility by offering Basic Life Support (BLS) training. Basic Life Support (BLS) is the foundation for saving lives after cardiac arrest. It is designed for healthcare professionals as well as public to provide emergency care to patients in a wide variety of settings, and teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in pre-hospital and in-facility settings.

 Course Fee: RM 371.00 (including 6% SST)

Limited to 24 pax.

Curriculum in accordance to American Heart Association 2015 Guidelines.

Perioperative medicine’ adalah ilmu kesihatan kompleks yang merangkumi pelbagai peringkat penyediaan pesakit sebelum menghadapi sebarang bentuk rawatan pembedahan. The 2nd UMMC Resuscitation Conference is designed to provide a diverse audience of healthcare providers with a comprehensive update on existing and new treatment guidelines aimed for optimal resuscitation of critically ill patients. This year’s conference theme “ To ED and Beyond : Maximizing Resuscitation and Enhancing Survival” revolves around the concept of placing utmost importance in early resuscitation of the severely ill patients not only during the emergency department stay but at the prehospital level as well as upon disposition to their final destination. This exciting 2-day conference will include general plenary sessions and several themed symposiums, designed to promote interdisciplinary discussion of broad issues for healthcare personnel involved in emergency medical services(EMS), critical care and trauma providers led by well-renowned experts from respective fields. This will also be a great oppurtunity and platform for mentors and peers to come together and share their experiences with resuscitation and management of the critically ill, be it from teaching hospitals, government hospitals and the private practices.

 

TARGET AUDIENCE

The target audience for this activity includes emergency physicians and medical officers, trauma surgeons,trauma and emergency as well as critical care nurses, intensivists, emergency medical providers, researchers and scientists in the fields of cardiac arrest and trauma.

 

OBJECTIVES

1. Emulate evidence-based best practices in managing out of hospital and in-hospital cardiopulmonary arrest.
2. Discuss and identify early intervention, latest treatment strategies and trials related to resuscitation of traumatic and non traumatic critically ill patients.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it is projected that 1 in 5 individuals would be 60 years
or older by 2050. As the ageing population blooms in size, we face new challenges in empowering and
caring for the aged. Studies have shown that Traditional and Complementary Medicine (T&CM) is effective
in strengthening the body’s defense and healing abilities while encouraging a holistic approach towards
good health practices, self-care and empowerment. This conference therefore aims to provide a suitable

Cardiac arrest is a treatable medical event that requires immediate action to save a life. Cardiac arrest can strike indiscriminately and without warning, often leaving grieving family members and friends to question what could have been done differently. 

When the heart stops, the brain will begin to die within 4 minutes. An ambulance takes 10-15 minutes to reach the victim. If CPR were instituted early, even before the arrival of the ambulance, it could make a difference to the victim’s survival. As cardiac (heart) arrest could occur at home, in the office, on the streets, bystanders able to perform CPR becomes valuable for the victim.

Institut Jantung Negara (IJN), being the premier cardiac hospital, have taken the first step of public responsibility by offering Basic Life Support (BLS) training. Basic Life Support (BLS) is the foundation for saving lives after cardiac arrest. It is designed for healthcare professionals as well as public to provide emergency care to patients in a wide variety of settings, and teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in pre-hospital and in-facility settings.

 Course Fee: RM 371.00 (including 6% SST)

Aim

The aim of this course is to introduce the Rehabilitation services to Specialists and Medical Officers from Primary Care Health Clinics (“Klinik Kesihatan”) and district Hospitals of Northern Zone Sarawak. Furthermore, this will facilitate patient referrals and consultation. We hope to achieve in the near future to establish visiting rehabilitation clinic services to district hospitals.

 

Objective

  1. To introduce the Rehabilitation Medicine Service to Specialists, Medical Officers from Primary Care Clinics (“Klinik Kesihatan”) and district Hospitals in Northern zone Sarawak.
  2. To raise the awareness and identify the patients that needs rehabilitation services.
  3. To improve knowledge and rehabilitation updates to doctors and medical staffs.
  4. To establish referral network and consultation system
