Designed specifically for Malaysian women, program ROSE (Removing Obstacles to cervical ScrEening) features self-sampling by women themselves to test for HPV with a secure, digital e-health platform to ensure proper communication and follow up post testing. This evidence-based approach can save lives and spare women and families from the suffering and financial hardship associated with cervical cancer.

In Malaysia, cervical cancer is the top 3 most common cancer among women, affecting women in the prime of their lives – 3 out of 4 women in Malaysia with cervical cancer are below the age of 64. 99% of cervical cancer cases are caused by high-risk HPV (Human Papillomavirus) types. Although readily available at many healthcare centers, only 25% of eligible women had a pap smear done from 2013 to 2017.

About Program ROSE by the ROSE Foundation

In Malaysia, cervical cancer is the 2nd most common cancer among women in the productive age under 44. 99% of cervical cancer cases are caused by high- risk HPV (Human Papillomavirus) types. 3 out of 4 (75%) Malaysian women did not do cervical screening regularly and this figure rose to 90% during the COVID- 19 pandemic.

At ROSE Foundation, our vision is to eliminate cervical cancer among women in Malaysia through Program ROSE.

Program ROSE is an innovative cervical screening that enables and empowers women to perform their own cervical screening using a simple self-swab which is simple, painless, and an effective approach that enables the HPV PCR testing to be undertaken by ROSE Laboratory, followed by prompt delivery of results via SMS or WhatsApp. A further important feature of Program ROSE is the linkage to care where women with positive test results are linked to a colposcopist (specialised gynaecologist) for appropriate follow-up.
Our end-to-end approach goes beyond just screening thus ensuring all women screened under Program ROSE are covered for treatment when necessary. This evidence-based approach can save lives and spare women and families from suffering and financial hardship associated with cervical cancer.
