PETALING JAYA: The move to raise the legal drinking age to 21 from 18 has been lauded by
consumer groups, medical practitioners and parents. The new ruling follows an amendment to the Food Regulation Act 1985, which was gazetted in May
last year.
Federation of Malaysian Cons umers Associations secretary-general Datuk Paul Selvaraj said it was a good move as drinking brings a lot of risks.

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) will be organising the inaugural MMA
Schomos Charity Health Run 2018, on Jan 13, 2018, in an effort to promote a healthy lifestyle among Malaysians. The run, co-organised with the Health Ministry (MOH), will be held at Padang Semarak, Taman Wetlands, here, from 6am to 11pm.
MMA president Dr. Ravindran R Naidu said 1,500 people from various states are expected to participate in the run, with added impetus on medical practitioners around the nation.

29 December 2017 The Malay Mail Onus on state governments to implement subsidised healthcare plan
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 29 — The onus is on state governments to provide a subsidised health care plan as the Ministry of Health (MoH) has already done enough, according to
the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA).
This follows the suggestion of Medical Practitioners Coalition Association of Malaysia that the Ministry of Health and other state governments should emulate the Selangor state
government’s Peduli Sihat scheme, which provides subsidised healthcare to the poor.
