Nurturing Doctors, Building Leaders
MMA Junior Doctors’ Network (JDN)
About Us
The Junior Doctors Network (JDN) Malaysia is a platform under the Malaysia Medical Association Section Concerning House Officer, Medical Officer, and Specialists (SCHOMOS) dedicated to empowering Malaysians junior doctors.
We represent their voices, advocate for safe and fair working conditions, and provide opportunities for growth through mentorship, education, and collaboration. Guided by our vision to nurture compassionate clinicians and future leaders, JDN serves as a supportive community where junior doctors can thrive personally and professionally while contributing to a stronger healthcare system for Malaysia.
Our Story
Since 1971, the Section Concerning House Officers, Medical Officers, and Specialists (SCHOMOS) within the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) has been the main body representing and supporting junior doctors in Malaysia.
Building on this legacy, the Malaysian Chapter of the Junior Doctors Network (JDN) was formed in 2016 under SCHOMOS. One of its earliest milestones was the 2018 Penang Declaration Against Workplace Bullying and Harassment, a stand against mistreatment in the workplace.
Since 2022, JDN was further recognised at the MMA Annual General Meeting, with constitutional amendments securing its place as an important bloc within the Association. A guaranteed seat was established for an MMA-JDN representative in the National Working Committee (NWC) of SCHOMOS.
Looking ahead, similar reforms are planned to extend this representation into the MMA’s Private Practitioners’ Section (PPS)—ensuring junior doctors across all sectors have a stronger voice in shaping the future of healthcare.

What Our 2024/2025 Committees Say...

Dr Loke Xi-Mun
Chair, MMA-JDN
Two terms with JDN has been nothing short of inspiring. We’ve seen junior doctors step up, speak out, and support each other through challenges big and small. From policy wins to everyday encouragement, it’s clear—we are stronger together.
JDN isn’t just a platform, it’s a community built by junior doctors, for junior doctors. And as long as we keep moving forward side by side, the future looks brighter for all of us.

What a year it has been as Membership Chief of
MMA SCHOMOS JDN!
We’ve had an exciting year filled with engaging activities for junior doctors—and most importantly, we’ve seen real progress. More contract doctors are being absorbed, and with the recent abolishment of the contract MO system, we’ve taken a huge step forward. The amendment to the Medical Act is another game changer, opening new pathways for junior doctors to pursue specialisation.
Of course, challenges remain—brain drain, on-call allowance, and permanent placements are still on our agenda. But this platform is proof that when junior doctors unite, our voices are heard.
Together, we are stronger. Come join us, and let’s keep making a difference!

Dr Lianne
Medical Officer
‘If you want change, you need to be the change’ has always guided me. JDN gave me the chance to turn that belief into action — standing with fellow junior doctors, learning from one another, and finding strength in our shared struggles. The friendships and solidarity we’ve built remind me that none of us are ever alone in this journey

Honing leadership and public speaking skills in JDN has allowed me to amplify not just my own ideas, but also the collective voice of junior doctors.
