MMA advises devotees to perform their vows earlier

GEORGE TOWN: The Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) has advised devotees to perform their
vows earlier for the upcoming Thaipusam festival to avoid crowds in view of the novel coronavirus
(2019-nCoV) outbreak.
Its president Dr N. Ganabaskaran said it would be an arduous task for emergency teams to mobilise
rescue efforts if children or the elderly come down with any symptoms of the coronavirus in huge
crowds.“Hindus should make an exception this year in view of the virus and should not converge in
large crowds during Thaipusam day, which falls on Feb 8.
