MMA shocked at guidelines

PETALING JAYA: Medical professionals have raised objection to what is seen as “discriminatory
policies and practices” against children of medical frontliners in childcare centres.
Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) president Dr N. Ganabaskaran criticised the updated
standard operating procedure (SOP) for childcare centres set by the Women, Family and Community
Development Ministry.

Covid-19: MMA calls for extra preventive measures, testing of foreign workers

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): Extra preventive measures should be taken to stop the spread of
Covid-19 among the workforce, especially foreign workers, says the Malaysian Medical Association
(MMA).
Its president Dr N. Ganabaskaran said more emphasis should be given to safe physical distancing, the
wearing of face masks and personal hygiene among the workforce, with testing focused on foreign
workers in line with Ministry of Health’s (MOH) targeted approach to testing.

Full compliance to restrictions vital to curb subsequent waves of Covid-19 infections: MMA

Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) president Dr N. Ganabaskaran (pix) said adherence to standard
operating procedures under the conditional movement control order (CMCO) is pivotal to handling a
potential second wave of cases.
“Full compliance with all the requirements is key to preventing a spike in the number of new cases,” he told
theSun yesterday.
Ganabaskaran expressed confidence that the necessary preparations have already been made by the
Health Ministry to handle any eventuality.

Flip-flop on test for workers

IT is the policy of the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) to be supportive of the government’s
efforts in improving healthcare in the country. We are pleased with the government’s efforts so far in
􀃘ghting the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.
However, as a national medical body, we feel it is our responsibility in the best interest of the people,
our healthcare system and our country that we bring to light any matters of great concern.

MMA: Give clear guidelines for Covid-19 testing of workforce

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) has criticised the policy changes for
Covid-19 testing of the workforce before businesses resume operations under the conditional
movement control order (MCO).
MMA president Dr N. Ganabaskaran said the lack of clear-cut guidelines on the testing of the
workforce “has left business owners, employees and even general practitioners in the country
confused and frustrated”.

Vital to boost immune system, says group

KUALA LUMPUR: Strengthening our immune system is within our control and should be the 􀃘rst line
of defence against infections, says Malaysian Medical Association president Dr N. Ganabaskaran.
Besides being disciplined in observing social distancing and good personal hygiene, one must get
proper nutrition from a balanced diet, regular exercise and good quality rest to boost the immune
system and protect against infections, he said.He said those with weak immune systems should stay
home or work from home if possible.

MMA: Public now the ‘frontliners’ in Covid-19 fight

PETALING JAYA: Members of the public will now play the most important role in combating the
Covid-19 pandemic, says the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA).
Its president Dr N. Ganabaskaran said with the announcement of the conditional movement control
order (MCO) by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, the public must remain vigilant as the
health crisis continues.
